AEDC Woman’s Club presents scholarships to local students

ARNOLD AIR FORCE BASE, TENN. -- During the April 6 meeting of the AEDC Woman’s Club, six local high school students received AEDCWC scholarships and Susan Gritton, with Ascend Credit Union, shared a message about how their aspirations, experiences and education will make such a difference in their lives.

Gritton also shared the story of her life, and table donations of $110 went to Good Samaritan of Winchester.

The scholarship recipients are Tyler Reynolds and Kelsea Selvage, Coffee County Central High School; Samantha Donde and Hannah Luthi, Tullahoma High School; Candace Hargrave, Huntland High School; and Christian Steele, Franklin County High School.

The next meeting of the AEDC Woman’s Club will be May 4 at the Arnold Lakeside Center.

At the May meeting, the members will celebrate “Kentucky Derby Day.” The ladies will don their finest chapeaux and gloves and participate in a hat parade. There will be a “Run for the Roses” backdrop for pictures and nimble fingers will do crafts at the tables. So come and show off those beautiful hats and gloves, have your picture taken and enjoy the friendship of these lovely ladies.

In addition, members will be voting for and installing new officers for 2017-2018. Table donations at the May meeting will go to Hospice of Highland Rim Foundation.

The social hour of the meeting starts at 9:30 a.m., with the business meeting and program beginning at 10 a.m.

The April meeting is open to the public and provides the opportunity to meet the AEDCWC members and become a member. You don’t need to have military connections or be involved with Arnold Air Force Base to visit and become a member.
