Arnold Air Force Base Department of Air Force Police conducted a multi-agency DUI checkpoint with Tennessee Highway Patrol, Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Manchester Police Department April 28.

The DUI checkpoint was conducted at the intersection of Wattendorf Memorial Highway and Decherd Highway from 7 to 9 p.m.

“The DUI checkpoints are very important in helping enforce the traffic laws and removing drugs from the installation, resulting in a safer roadway to travel and safer community to live in,” said Lt. Christopher Szatkowski, Arnold AFB Security Forces operations manager.

The joint effort resulted in one person arrested for an outstanding criminal warrant; another person arrested for drug paraphernalia and driving on a revoked driver’s license; two persons arrested for possession of controlled substances, distribution of controlled substances and firearms violation; eight tickets for expired registration; and two tickets for seatbelt violations.

“The checkpoint fostered a stronger working relationship between the agencies and understanding of the role and significance each department contributes to keeping the local community safe,” Szatkowski said.

Department of the Air Force Police performs a law enforcement mission on Arnold AFB to include: traffic enforcement, criminal investigations, DUI checkpoints and sharing of criminal intelligence with our local law enforcement partners.
