704th Test Group receives $23,000 in funding for 3D Runway Surface Scanning and Surface Re-Creation
The 168-inch internal drum dynamometer, pictured, is a test machine developed and commissioned in 1998 for the purpose of aircraft tire wear testing. It operates at speeds up to 350 mph, with loads of up to 150,000 pounds, plus or minus 20 degrees of yaw, plus or minus 10 degrees of camber and can provide variable levels of brake torque. The 168i is shown here with a tire instrumented for predictive wear testing. (U.S. Air Force photo)
