Media are invited to attend a dedication ceremony here Friday, March 30 from 1-2 p.m.

In observance of Women's History Month, base officials will dedicate the F-14D Tomcat static display aircraft at the Main Gate in honor of Navy Lt. Kara Hultgreen.

Lieutenant Hultgreen, the Navy's first female carrier-based combat fighter pilot, was killed in a crash in October 1994 in the F-14 she was piloting.

She was assigned to the Black Lions of Fighter Squadron 213 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. The F-14 being dedicated in her honor was assigned to the same squadron.

The guest speaker will be retired Navy Capt. Rosemary Mariner, the first military woman to command an operational fleet squadron.

Media representatives who wish to attend must call the AEDC Public Affairs office at 931-454-4206 or 454-4204 before 4 p.m. Thursday, March 29.
