Glycol levels across the industrial area at Arnold Air Force base have dropped to below detectable levels at all 46 sampling sites. A set of samples has also been sent to two independent laboratories to verify the results from the on-base laboratory.

Throughout the last week, crews have systematically examined potential sources of contamination base wide and have not found a definitive source. AEDC Commander, Col. Michael Panarisi, has directed the search to continue until all possibilities have been exhausted.

Although the base drinking water meets federal and state regulatory standards, Col. Panarisi has decided until the investigation is complete the no drink order remains in effect and bottled water will continue to be distributed.

Pam King, AEDC's chief of the civil engineering branch's asset management section, reiterated in an interview for the base newspaper the localized nature of this event.

"The presence of glycol in the AEDC drinking water system and our efforts in response to this incident is localized to the AEDC industrial area," she said. "It has not and will not have any impact to Woods Reservoir, any local community public water systems, nearby private wells or groundwater."

"My team, under the direction of the commander, is focused on restoring the work force and community's trust in our water supply."
