What is Equal Opportunity?
The Equal Employment Opportunity Act of 1972 provides freedom from employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender identity, and sexual orientation), national origin, age (40 or older), disability, or genetic information. Equal employment opportunity (EEO) also protects employees from retaliation after having voiced, filed, or taken part in a discrimination complaint or lawsuit and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is the forum responsible for enforcing these laws.
EEO incorporates EO and also broadly benefits a work culture that falls outside the EO protected classes. EEO as well as EO advances respect and dignity where differences are leveraged for increased innovation and performance.
The Arnold Air Force Base Equal Opportunity Office promotes an environment free from personal, social, or institutional barriers according to the Federal laws that prohibit employment discrimination to improve mission effectiveness.
The Arnold EO Liaison is available to assist all Arnold AFB, Tunnel 9, and NFAC employees with questions/concerns relative to EO violations. Arnold Air Force Base also receives support in Equal Opportunity matters from Eglin Air Force Base. EO (af.mil)
The Arnold EO Liaison is also available to assist with any harassment issues that do not rise to the level of an EO complaint through the Anti-Harassment Program. (Anti-Harassment Tri-fold)
