A ceremony to honor Dr. Mark Mehalic for his recent appointment to the Air Force Senior Executive Service (SES) was conducted April 19 in the lobby of the Administration & Engineering Building at Arnold Air Force Base.

Mehalic assumed the post of deputy director for Air, Space and Cyberspace Operations at Air Force Materiel Command, headquartered at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, in early April. In this position, Mehalic is responsible for the developmental test and evaluation infrastructure for AFMC and enabling cyber-secure integrated multi-domain strategies, governance and mission assurance to deliver and support agile war-winning capabilities. He is also responsible for the command’s flight and test policy, resource allocation for flight management, airfield services, weather services, and command and control operations and plans.

Prior to joining the Air, Space and Cyberspace Operations at AFMC, Mehalic served as AEDC executive director and later vice director at Arnold AFB, where he was responsible for ground-based testing of aerospace systems.

The SES is comprised of the men and women charged with leading the continuing transformation of the nation’s government. Members of the SES serve in the key positions just below the top presidential appointees and are a major link between these appointees and the rest of the federal workforce.
