Editor’s note: The Team AEDC Frontlines series is a recurring feature that puts the spotlight on some of the members of Team AEDC on the “frontlines” supporting our mission, people and families during the COVID-19 crisis.

Kirk Rutland is the Deputy Director of the Arnold Engineering Development Complex Test Operations Division. In this role, Rutland, a Navy employee working for the Naval Air Warfare Center assigned to AEDC who has been at Arnold Air Force Base since 2006, supports AEDC Test Operations Division Chief Col. Keith Roessig as his principle deputy.

Rutland is serving on the Arnold AFB Crisis Action Team, which is currently focusing on addressing issues on base arising as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, as the alternate member representing the Test Operations Division. He has served on the base CAT since arriving at Arnold.

“As part of the senior leadership team, it’s vital that the Commander gets the most up-to-date info so he can make data-driven decisions. That becomes more important when the decisions are time critical. In my experience, this is the first instance where the CAT stayed active over more than a week.”

Kirk, thank you for all you do for Team AEDC!
