Editor’s note: The Team AEDC Frontlines series is a recurring feature that puts the spotlight on some of the members of Team AEDC on the “frontlines” supporting our mission, people and families during the COVID-19 crisis.

Neil Felver is an Emergency Management specialist for Arnold Air Force Base. In this role, Felver, who arrived at Arnold in 2007, plans and prepares for, responds to and mitigates a wide range of potential events that could impact the base, ranging from severe storms and tornados to nuclear war.

Felver’s role on the Arnold AFB Crisis Action Team, which is currently focusing on addressing issues on base arising as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, is to gather and present the most current information available to the team members, thus enabling the AEDC commander to make critical informed decisions to protect the entire AEDC workforce.

Felver created both the Emergency Operations Center and Crisis Action Team Microsoft TEAMS pages, allowing EOC personnel and members of the CAT to work and plan together virtually. Working with AEDC GeoBase Manager Armando Aguirre, Felver has also gained access to the Air Force Geospatial Information Management System portal, allowing him to create and constantly update a map showing the COVID-19 cases in the counties surrounding Arnold, providing CAT members with up-to-date information on the situation near the base.

“Being a member of the EOC and also trained to be the EOC director if needed, I understand the importance and mission of the CAT. While the EOC is at the ‘tactical’ level, the CAT is at the ‘strategic’ level and must have current and concise information to support their decision making processes.”

Neil, thank you for all you do for Team AEDC!
