Hill Air Force Base – The sensory deprivation, bio-responsive mindfulness Lumena MindGym at the Hess Fitness Center is available 24/7 to any user registered with the 75th Force Support Squadron.

Users sit in an ergonomic chair and wear an EEG helmet during training sessions. The electroencephalogram helmet detects electrical brain waves and physiological feedback including heart rate, respiration rate and heart variability.

Guided mindset training sessions, usually lasting between 10-20 minutes enhance the user’s ability to transition their mental state through light and sound for relaxation, inner-exploration and contemplative practice.

A typical session is divided between peace and relaxation, mental training and performance.

Users set up a profile at the Hess and then are able to reserve a MindGym session through their phone.

As training and menu content grows, the capacity to monitor heart rate, respiratory rate, and brainwaves will allow each training session to be tailored through biofeedback to the real-time physiological state of each individual user.
