AAPS to present lunch and learn event on ‘the future of space transportation – a multi-national perspective’ Published July 20, 2010 By Philip Lorenz III AEDC/PA ARNOLD AIR FORCE BASE, Tenn. -- The Arnold Association of Professional Societies (AAPS) will host a joint society luncheon with the AIAA Space Transportation Technical Committee (STTC). A panel of three experts from the STTC will provide perspectives on the future of space transportation. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. July 29 at the Arnold Lakeside Center (ALC). Jason Hundley, with Zero Point Frontiers Corp., in Huntsville, Ala., supported the Exploration Systems Architecture Study that led to the Constellation Program. He is currently supporting NASA in looking at the proposed new direction for U.S. space transportation system development. Christian Dujarric, a senior launch systems engineer with the European Space Agency (ESA), will discuss the successful history of the Ariane V launch system, the new Vega Launch system, as well as plans to launch the Russian Soyuz rocket from European launch sites in French Guiana, South America, in the very near future. Dr. Tomioka Sadatake, a lead engineer in the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Space Transportation Mission Directorate, will provide an overview of Japanese space launch activities as well as discuss their efforts in hypersonics. The southern buffet luncheon will be served at the ALC beginning at 11:30 a.m., followed by the panel discussions from noon to 1 p.m. July 29. The cost of the lunch is $9 per person for non members, $8 for ALC members and $4 for students.
