National Engineers Week events scheduled for Feb. 17-23 Published Feb. 7, 2008 By Janaé Daniels AEDC/PA ARNOLD AIR FORCE BASE, Tenn. -- X-35 Chief Test Pilot Tom Morgenfeld to speak at engineers week banquet Feb. 20 Thomas Morgenfeld, chief test pilot for the X-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program, will be the keynote speaker for the Engineers Week Banquet Feb. 20 at the Coffee County Conference Center. He will speak about his experiences flying all three versions of the X-35 airplane. Morgenfeld has been the chief test pilot for Lockheed Skunk Works and has flown the YF-22-A for the Advanced Tactical Fighter Program as well as F-117 test planes. He is a Vietnam Era veteran with more than 500 carrier landings and 120 combat missions in the F-8. The public is invited to the banquet, and reservations must be made by Feb. 15. Professor Muratore was Shuttle Program chief engineer and manager for Systems Engineering and Integration for the Shuttle Flight Recertification Program. He is now a Research Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee Space Institute's Aviation Systems Department. Professor Muratore will discuss the physics behind the Columbia loss and how the debris problem has been attacked during the return-to-flight process. The buffet luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the talk at noon.
