An Evening at Arnold hosted by Col. Arthur F. Huber Commander, Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) was held Tuesday evening, Sept. 25.

The event was held to recognize the contributions of organizations in our area that provide much needed family services. Approximately 25 agencies were represented including United Way, Tennessee Department of Children's Services, Good Samaritan, Haven of Hope and many more.

Colonel Huber started the event by welcoming everyone to AEDC.

"I just want to express my thanks for all you do and provide for this community," said Col. Huber. "You deserve this."

Colonel Huber chose to honor organizations that provide family services because his mother is a social worker in North Carolina, and he has seen first hand their involvement in the community.

"We are a smaller base so we are more dependent on the services these organizations provide," said Col. Huber. "Community support here is essential."

Mona Mason from Haven of Hope in Manchester said that it is nice for social workers and other people involved in community organizations to get together.

"This is a great opportunity for us to get together and meet people who work in the same area we do," she said.

The group also went on base tour as part of the event.

"It was really nice to have an event like this," said Juanita Syler from the Benevolence Club in Franklin County. "Getting a tour of the base was great too and the type of work done here is really interesting."
