2024 AFTC-level winners of AFMC Science, Engineering and Technical Management awards announced

Arnold Engineering Development Complex team members took home honors in 11 of the 16 award categories in the Air Force Test Center-level Air Force Material Command Science, Engineering and Technical Management Awards for 2024.

Award nomination packages are judged upon three elements: operational impact, innovative improvements and customer focus.

The AEDC AFTC-level award winners, including the categories for which they won, are:

  • Mid-Career Civilian Scientist/Engineer: Kirk E. Butler, 804th Test Group
  • Senior Civilian Scientist/Engineer: Sean D. Smith, 804th Test Group
  • Technical Management: Timothy D. Espinoza, 704th Test Group, Detachment 2
  • Technical Management Team Award: Field Measurement Team, 804th Test group and 718th Test Group. The team consists of Celia A. Doub, 2nd Lt. Caleb R. Lynch, Anthony P. Hanner, Adam C. Plondke and David B. Cox.
  • Engineering Technician: Russell P. Loos, 704th Test Group OL-AC
  • Career Achievement: Richard E. Rushing, 804th Test Group
  • Support: Laura E. Pinard 704th Test Group and 846th Test Squadron
  • Outstanding Scientist Team Award: Capabilities Development Functional Area Team, 704th Test Group and 746th Test Squadron. The team consists of Sean Abrahamson, Luis R. Melendez, Carlos A. Ruiz and Orlando Padilla.
  • General James Ferguson Engineering Award: David A LaBuda, 704th Test Group and 846th Test Squadron.
  • General Bernard P. Randolph Engineering Team Award: Arcjet Nuclear Modernization Test Team, 804th Test Group. The team consists of Aaron A. Bryan, Kingsley N. Broome, Christopher D. Follis, Cooper J. Green, Landon B. Jarrel, Joshua A. Lankford, Christopher W. Lehto, Jonathan A. Lister, Matthew W. Perenich, Richard E. Rushing, Cullum S. Spurlock, Tyler F. Thompson, Alexandra B. Wolfe and 2nd Lt. Orville Williams.
  • Captain Roland R. Obenland Engineering Memorial Award: 1st Lt. Nicholas F. George, 704th Test Group and 746th Test Squadron.

AFTC-level winners will now compete for the Air Force Materiel Command-level Science, Engineering and Technical Management Awards.
