AEDC plays large role in upcoming AIAA Defense and Security Forum Published Jan. 12, 2016 By Deidre Ortiz AEDC/PA ARNOLD AIR FORCE BASE, TENN -- The annual American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Defense and Security Forum and Exposition is being held March 8-10, 2016, at John Hopkins University, and members of AEDC will be key players this year. The Defense and Security Forum is one of four forums hosted by AIAA annually. The others being Science and Technology, Aviation, Propulsion and Space. AIAA Defense 2016 is specifically a forum for classified and unclassified discussion of technical, programmatic, and policy issues pertaining to aerospace in U.S. national security. Leaders from U. S. government, military, industry and academia explore complex defense challenges in order to develop global solutions. Experts will present the latest innovative technological breakthroughs that will integrate with current and next-generation defense systems. According to Rick Gamble, ATA Space and Missile product manager and technical chairman of the 2016 Defense Forum, four AEDC engineers and physicists are scheduled to make presentations at the conference in March. They are Dr. Robert Hiers, Mark Smith, Danny Brown and Dr. Heard Lowry. Gamble said he looks forward to the forum and for others to get a chance to see the importance of the work taking place at AEDC. "This event gives an opportunity to showcase the technically diverse work performed at AEDC that is critical to our nation's defense," he said. Topics presented at the conference include Cyberspace, Hypersonic systems, Innovative Concepts and Emerging Technologies, Missile Defense, Robotic and Unmanned Weapon Systems, Space Defense, Strategic and Tactical Missile Systems, Targets and Countermeasures, and Weapon System Performance Analysis, Modeling, Testing and Evaluation.
