AEDC test teams role in testing space systems for the Voyager spacecraft

AEDC test teams played a part in testing the space systems for the Voyager spacecraft prior to their launches in 1977. In 1965, NASA had AEDC test teams conduct on the surface, solar cells and exposed components of space vehicle Centaur-Voyager, a full-scale segment with a 5,000-pound retro rocket, mounted as it would be on the Saturn S-IVB booster. New crane purchased to support national defense mission

The Grove GMK5200-1 Hydraulic All Terrain Mobile Crane, pictured, was recently purchased for routine maintenance and repair of Arnold Air Force Base test support assets. The crane is 54 feet long, 10 feet wide or 26 feet wide with outriggers extended, 13 feet high and weighs 132,000 pounds. It is also capable of lifting 240 tons and has a reach of 210 feet.
