Arnold AFB team members gather for 3rd annual Christmas tree lighting

The Arnold Air Force Base Christmas tree is lit during a ceremony Dec. 4, 2025, at Arnold AFB, Tenn., headquarters of Arnold Engineering Development Complex. The tree measures 40 feet tall and 22 feet wide. It is decorated with approximately 300 ornaments and is topped with a 5-foot 3D five-point star. The tree was purchased in 2023 after installation leadership expressed a desire for a Christmas tree to be displayed at a prominent location at Arnold AFB. An analysis of the average number of deer-vehicle collisions, or DVCs, per month from 1987 to 2024 shows most DVCs occur at Arnold Air Force Base annually from October to through January. Woods Reservoir at Arnold AFB plays host to Highland Yacht Club Fall Regatta

Area boat racing enthusiasts vie for first place during the Highland Yacht Club’s Fall Regatta, held Sept. 21-22, 2025, on Woods Reservoir at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn. A regatta is a series of boat or yacht races held over a relatively short period of time. The Highland Yacht Club holds two regattas open to non-club members each calendar year – the Spring Regatta occurring around mid-May and the Fall Regatta that typically takes place in late September. The club was started in the 1950s to promote sailing on Woods Reservoir and to encourage interest in the hobby among Arnold AFB personnel, their families and members of the local communities. The Arnold Engineering Development Complex Natural Resources team at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn., headquarters of AEDC, is urging motorists traveling on and around the base to be more cautious, as the period from October to January is peak deer-vehicle collision season. Travelers on Arnold AFB property should always assume they are driving through deer habitat but, based on the geospatial probability analysis represented in this map, there appear to be areas at Arnold where deer-vehicle collisions are more concentrated and pose a higher risk. From Base to Desert: AEDC Branch Chief Joins Son in 240-Mile Ultramarathon Journey

At age 69, Mike Dent, AEDC Technical Management Branch Chief at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn., is very active, running three miles two to three times each week. Cognizant of the important task of a pacer during an ultramarathon such as the Moab 240, Mike trained for a month before the race. From Base to Desert: AEDC Branch Chief Joins Son in 240-Mile Ultramarathon Journey

Mike Dent, AEDC Technical Management Branch Chief at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn., completed 13 miles of 2025 ultramarathon Moab 240 with is son during the four-day and 21-hour race. Mike joined Tim at mile 114.22, at Shay Mountain, sitting at about 8,400 feet. From there, they faced a climb to the peak at 10,600 feet before descending to Monticello Lake at mile marker 126.42.
