Students put skills to the test in design competition

Students came up with a variety of designs for a space elevator during this year’s Student Design Competition held at the Hands-On Science Center Feb. 21. The goal of the competition was to raise a payload to a minimum height of half a meter. Students’ scores were determined by an equation that took into account the weight lifted, height reached and amount of time it took to reach that height. (Photo by Jacqueline Cowan)
