Looking at a piece of history
Arnold Engineering Development Center Firefighter and Crew Chief Charlie Armstrong examines a partially melted fragment of a glass port (observation window) from the J-5 rocket engine test cell ? a piece of debris from the explosion he and his coworkers responded to in 1985. Armstrong and others at the center’s fire department have assembled a range of artifacts, including damage debris, old fire fighting equipment, photographs and other memorabilia collected over the years and put them into a display case at the fire hall.
