One AEDCer sees space from a different perspective
As a part of the trip to French Guiana, the group had the opportunity to watch the launch of an Ariane 5 rocket July 1. This launch used the ECA version of the rocket designed specifically for carrying the largest payloads to Earth orbit. The payload for this flight was the TerreStar-1 satellite built by Space Systems Loral. It is the world’s largest and most powerful commercial satellite, and it will be a part of the nation’s first all IP mobile communications network. TerreStar announced the successful completion of the first end-to-end call using the satellite July 22. (Photo by Peter Montgomery)
