Engines for new Airbus aircraft tested at AEDC
The Airbus Industries A380 in an artist’s concept in flight will be the world’s largest passenger aircraft. The passenger version of the aircraft is designed to carry 555 passengers on two levels and is scheduled to enter service in 2006. It will be followed by a freighter version two years later. The recently tested Rolls-Royce Trent 900 and the GE-Pratt & Whitney Engine Alliance GP7200 are the two choices customers have for the engines for the massive aircraft.
