AEDC test teams played a part in testing the space systems for the Voyager spacecraft prior to their launches in 1977. In 1965, NASA had AEDC test teams conduct on the surface, solar cells and exposed components of space vehicle Centaur-Voyager, a full-scale segment with a 5,000-pound retro rocket, mounted as it would be on the Saturn S-IVB booster. A Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucano A-29 experimental aircraft flies over White Sands Missile Range. The A-29 is participating in the U.S. Air Force Light Attack Experiment (OA-X), a series of trials to determine the feasibility of using light aircraft in attack roles.
