AEDC test teams role in testing space systems for the Voyager spacecraft

AEDC test teams played a part in testing the space systems for the Voyager spacecraft prior to their launches in 1977. In 1965, NASA had AEDC test teams conduct on the surface, solar cells and exposed components of space vehicle Centaur-Voyager, a full-scale segment with a 5,000-pound retro rocket, mounted as it would be on the Saturn S-IVB booster. Test simulated altitudes of up to 133,000 feet. (AEDC file photo)
