AEDC Commander applauds community STEM event
Col. Lincoln Bonner, chief of the Arnold Engineering Development Complex Test Division, helps his son Solomon, right, ready his balsa wood airplane for a practice toss during a June 26, 2021, event hosted by the Coffee Airfoilers Model RC Club to coincide with the AEDC 70th anniversary celebration. Also pictured is Bonner’s son Romal. Youth participating in the event were tasked with assembling small balsa wood airplanes, with top prizes going to those whose planes flew the farthest from the launch line. The event was intended to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, interest among students taking part. (U.S. Air Force photo by Bradley Hicks)
