Congressman John Rose visits Arnold AFB
From left, Travis Vitale, a senior development mechanic with Pratt & Whitney, shows Rep. John Rose, of Tennessee, a section of a second stage fan stator for the F135 being tested to validate a new design of the engine component through accelerated mission testing in Sea Level Test Cell 3 (SL-3) as Rose tours the facility during his visit Aug. 31, 2021, to Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn., headquarters of Arnold Engineering Development Complex. Pratt & Whitney is the manufacturer of the F135, the powerhouse of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Engine test facilities, such as those at Arnold AFB, allow new engine components to be rigorously tested and proven before being distributed to the fleet. (U.S. Air Force photo by Jill Pickett)
