Sen. Blackburn visits Arnold AFB
Cooper Green, an arcs test engineer, speaks about the model positioning system, seen at the left, to Sen. Marsha Blackburn during her visit to Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee, headquarters of Arnold Engineering Development Complex, Jan. 27, 2023. Green is holding one of the segments that make up an arc heater, which essentially creates a controlled lightning bolt in a tube for the purpose of testing materials under extreme heat and shear forces. The model positioning system allows test personnel to rotate multiple test objects through the arc jet flow during a test run. (U.S. Air Force photo by Jill Pickett)
