AEDC Spark Tank: LUCAS 3 chest compression machine saves lives, improves patient outcomes
Arnold Engineering Development Complex Commander Col. Randel Gordon, left, looks on while Arnold Air Force Base Fire and Emergency Services paramedic/firefighter Pete Dwyer explains the LUCAS 3 Chest Compression System July 28, 2023, at Arnold AFB, Tenn., headquarters of AEDC. Arnold FES was able to acquire two of the automated CPR devices through Arnold Engineering Development Complex Spark Tank funding the department received earlier this year. The LUCAS 3 is designed to deliver uninterrupted chest compressions at a consistent rate and depth, whether in the field, during transport and throughout arrival to the hospital.
