Harry Hitchcock, forester at Arnold Air Force Base, right, releases a goose on Arnold property during a goose release that occurred in 1974. Twenty-five pair of Giant Canada Geese were released near the Arnold cooling water retention pond in an effort to establish a resident population of the waterfowl in the area. Also pictured is Cecil Davis of the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge in Decatur, Ga. This image and an accompanying article about the release were published in the May 1974 issue of High Mach.
