Arnold AFB employee shares son’s story of organ donation for National Donate Life Month
After deadly injuries claimed the life of 22-year-old Sam Darnell, Marcheta Darnell learned that her son had registered as an organ donor. Honoring her son’s wishes, she worked with Tennessee Donor Services and Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga to donate Sam’s heart, liver, right kidney and left kidney to recipients in South Carolina, Alabama and Georgia. According to organdonor.gov, a single donor can save as many as eight lives and enhance over 75 more with their gifts of life. (Photo submitted by the Darnell Family)
