Four decades of keeping Arnold Safe: Perimeter Road marks 40 years
In 1984, the National Guard personnel clear a 60-foot-wide path through a densely wooded area of the Arnold Engineering Development Complex reservation. This preparation was for the perimeter security road that would be located near the airstrip. Using 83 pieces of heavy equipment, they constructed a 20-foot-wide road next to a recently built security fence. (U.S. Air Force Photo)
