NFAC marks 80th anniversary of 40- by 80-foot tunnel
The completed 40- by 80-foot wind tunnel at the NASA Ames Research Center at Moffett Field, California, is photographed from overhead in 1948. The 80th anniversary of the first operation of the tunnel, the largest facility in the photo, occurred in June. The 40x80 tunnel, along with the 80- by 120-foot wind tunnel at the Ames Research Center, are managed by Arnold Engineering Development Complex. Together, these two tunnels make up the National Full-Scale Aerodynamics Complex. (National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics photo)
