Eye in the sky: Arnold AFB begins facility inspection using remotely piloted aircraft

A Small Unmanned Aircraft System, also known as an sUAS or a “drone,” is flown above the Administration and Engineering Building at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn., during a March 5, 2025, demonstration of the device. The sUAS will soon be used at Arnold to perform asset health assessments. The device is equipped with both digital and infrared imaging capabilities and will be flown around installation buildings, plant facilities and associated equipment to ensure there are no compromises to such assets and to assess the structural integrity of facilities.
