Arnold AFB to discontinue plastic recycling program
Bagged plastic bottles collected by the Arnold Air Force Base Recycling Center team await transport outside of the center at Arnold AFB, Tenn., May 30, 2025. The bins pictured represent around two weeks’ worth of bottle collection. The Arnold AFB Recycling Center recently announced that beginning June 16 it will no longer accept plastic materials. The move is primarily due to rising costs related to the collection, sorting and processing of recyclable plastics coupled with a reduced market demand for plastic across Tennessee. Other recyclables, such as aluminum cans, cardboard and paper, will still be accepted by the center. (U.S. Air Force photo by Bradley Hicks)
