AEDC at 75: Wattendorf recommendation leads to AEDC creation
American scientist Frank Wattendorf looks over Arnold Engineering Development Center construction photographs in this image taken in the 1950s. Wattendorf is considered one of the founding fathers of AEDC. His Trans-Atlantic Memo, written following a 1945 survey of captured German test facilities with other members of the Scientific Advisory Group, was the first recommendation of a facility such as AEDC.
