Pit stop: VA250 stock car coming to Arnold AFB
Driver Tommy Hurley reaches 253 miles per hour while behind the wheel of the VA250 stock car, March 23, 2026, at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Shuttle Landing Facility in Florida. This speed set the stock car land speed record. The VA250 stock car, built to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, will be on display at the Gossick Leadership Center at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn., Sept. 10 from 3-7 p.m. The car will also be on display at the Hands-On Science Center in Tullahoma, Tenn., Sept. 11 from 1-6 p.m. (Courtesy photo)
