Aeropropulsion Systems Test Facility

AEDC is a government owned and managed, contractor operated test complex located in Southern Middle Tennessee. AEDC is a large and advanced complex of flight simulation test facilities. AEDC operates more than 68 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges, sled tracks, centrifuges, and other specialized units. All NASA manned spacecraft and every high-performance aircraft, missile, space launch system and most military satellites in use by the Department of Defense today have been tested in the complex’s facilities. AEDC is located at Arnold Air Force Base in middle Tennessee, with operating locations at the Federal Research Center at White Oak, Maryland; at Ames Research Center, in Mountain View, and Edwards AFB, California; Peterson AFB, Colorado; Hill AFB, Utah; Holloman AFB and White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico; and at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

Contracting Opportunities

Finding contracting opportunities at AEDC:

  1. AEDC contracting opportunities are posted on the www.sam.gov website. Enter FA9101 in the Keyword Solicitation # search field.
  2. Register to receive notification when business opportunities are posted at AEDC. (see www.sam.gov for instructions)
  3. Register your business in System for Award Management at www.sam.gov making sure to complete all required sections such as Representations and Certifications and requesting a Unique Entity ID.

NOTE: Failure to register in System for Award Management (SAM) will prevent your company from receiving contracts at AEDC.

Subcontracting Opportunities

We promote the involvement of small business at the subcontract level. In accordance with FAR 19.702, any large contractor receiving a contract for more than $750,000 ($1,500,000 for construction) shall submit a small business subcontracting plan in the event small business contracting opportunities are possible.

Contractor Visits and Base Access

Contractor visits to discuss business opportunities are welcomed. Contractors wishing to visit with the SBS or other staff members must call in advance and make an appointment.

Test Customer

AEDC Commercial Test - AEDC conducts tests, engineering analyses, and technical evaluations for research, system development, and operational programs of the Air Force, Department of Defense (DoD), other government agencies, and industry. AEDC provides such services to Air Force, DoD, and other federal government organizations under agency-to-agency agreements. We provide the same services to industry and any other organizations under AEDC test contracts when the testing or services support DoD acquisitions or when such services cannot reasonably be obtained within the private sector. Test contracts are cost-reimbursement, advance-pay type arrangements that include the terms and conditions necessary to assure AEDC's compliance with applicable Government statutes and regulations.
