Starting this month, modifications will be made to the Main Gate entrance to Arnold Air Force Base.

The project, awarded to Bacik Group, LLC, for $2.3 million, will involve the installation of security barriers and fencing at Arnold AFB. It will also include installing active vehicle net barriers, connections and controls, signage and related utility, access routes and asphalt roadways, reinforced concrete pavements, and subsurface draining and related grading.

In addition, there will be new parking, sidewalks and a pre-manufactured overwatch booth.
Joshua Cooke, utility asset manager for the Test Support Division Operations Section at Arnold, emphasizes to the workforce that the Main Gate at Arnold will remain open and active throughout construction.

“There will be no additional impact for drivers at Arnold Air Force Base,” he said. “Just as is presently the case for our drivers, one lane will remain open to incoming traffic and one lane will remain open for outgoing traffic.”

Jon Paul Wallace, Flight Chief with the Test Support Division Engineering Section, added, “When the project is complete, the Main Gate will once again have two lanes for entering and two lanes for exiting. We also anticipate it will be a more aesthetically pleasing product.”

Notices will be posted to the AEDC Team SharePoint site throughout the project so that all AEDC Team members are aware of any traffic changes.
