Team AEDC Frontlines: Brandon Gunn Published Sept. 21, 2020 By Deidre Moon AEDC/PA ARNOLD AIR FORCE BASE, Tenn. -- Editor’s note: The Team AEDC Frontlines series is a recurring feature that puts the spotlight on some of the members of Team AEDC on the “frontlines” supporting our mission, people and families during the COVID-19 crisis. Brandon Gunn is a driver and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician for Arnold Air Force Base Fire and Emergency Services, or FES.Gunn has worked at Arnold for the past 11 years. His duties include driving the department’s various fire apparatuses and providing medical assistance. Because fire and emergency services are essential to base operations, Gunn has continued to work on base throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. He commented that while his responsibilities haven’t particularly increased as a result of the pandemic, the team is more vigilant when arriving on scene and is taking all necessary precautions.“We operate differently than normal and there is an increased importance on situational awareness when we respond, especially when responding to medical calls,” Gunn said. “We’ve had to get used to wearing the masks, which can also make it hard to see if you wear glasses.”But through the challenges, he said the FES team has remained focused on doing its job successfully and safely.“It’s definitely not life as normal anymore,” he said. “Safety is very important. My crew is together 24 hours a day every third day, so the fire station is like our second home. We have to follow the guidelines to keep us safe and healthy, so that we don’t take anything home from work and possibly expose our own families.” Brandon, thank you for all you do for Team AEDC!
