In May, Sgt. Andy Schwegler, a first shift supervisor for Arnold Air Force Base Police, graduated from the Air Force Law Enforcement Academy at the Veterans Affairs Law Enforcement Training Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Out of a class of 56 students taking the approximately 2-month course, Schwegler was awarded commendation by the training center cadre for being Top Performer. The honor was in recognition of his high cumulative grade-point average, performance in scenario-based training, outstanding tactical competence and professionalism.

“It makes me proud to see an Arnold Air Force Base Police officer setting the standard in a class of more than 50 fellow officers,” said Ray Kelly, Arnold AFB Defense Force commander. “I was not surprised Sgt. Schwegler was recognized as best of the best based off his continued outstanding work ethic, integrity and attention to detail.”

By completing the training, Schwegler earned his Department of Defense Peace Officer Standards and Training certification. He is only the fifth Arnold AFB Police officer to attend and graduate from the course in the last two years.

At Arnold AFB, Schwegler is responsible for supervising all law enforcement responses while on shift, covering supervisor responsibilities for second shift and for scheduling personnel to ensure 24-hour police patrol while accommodating training and leave.
