Arnold AFB personnel look to uproot problem plants, other invasi
Autumn olive, kudzu, stiltgrass and privet are among the invasive plant species found in the forests and other habitats at Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee. Invasive species are defined as an introduced, nonnative organism that begins to spread or expand its range from the site of its original introduction and that has the potential to cause harm to the environment, the economy or human health. Natural resource personnel at Arnold are responsible for monitoring invasive species infestations, working to secure funding, implementing control projects and keeping an eye on new and emerging threats. Over the spring and summer of 2022, approximately 1,400 acres were treated for invasive plant infestations across Arnold AFB. (U.S. Air Force photo illustration by Brooke Brumley)
