The U.S. Air Force's Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) has awarded a contract worth $398,200 to Harper & Company, Inc., in Hillsboro to remove the existing Heating, Ventilation and Air Condition in Building 1088 at Arnold Air Force Base in Coffee County, Tenn.

The work performed includes removing pneumatic controls and replace with electric controls to interface with the existing control system. The contract also calls for work to remove existing gages and valves associated with air handling units and install new gages and valves inside the piping enclosure, provide new lighting controls and supply temporary heating and cooling as needed.

AEDC is the world's most diverse complex of aerospace test facilities. Since it opened in 1951, its engineers, technicians, craftsmen and support personnel have been involved in the development of nearly all U.S. military and NASA high-performance jets, missiles and space systems.

The center's propulsion test cells, aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, space chambers and ballistic missile ranges can simulate virtually every aspect of flight from ground level to deep space. Ground testing reduces risks and saves lives, equipment and money in operational testing. For more information on AEDC, visit the Web site at www.arnold.af.mil.
