The 704th Services Division will host an Air Force Birthday Bash celebration, Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Recreation Beach and Gossick Leadership Center area. The carnival-type event is open to the public and will begin at noon and close with a fireworks display at 8:15 p.m.

"The staff and local community have been working real hard to make this Air Force Birthday Bash the best ever," Rick Ferrebbee, chief of the 704th Services Division said.

"We have added a lot of new things this year like the car and motorcycle show and gymnastic demonstrations, etc., that will definitely add to the enjoyment of everyone who will attend. So come out and enjoy the afternoon with your family. I look forward to seeing everyone there."

This event is free and will include numerous carnival and inflatable rides. A Quad Bungee Jump and Rock Climbing Wall will also be available. Carnival games will be on hand where winners receive tickets to collect and redeem for various prizes.

A bingo tent will be going throughout the day with prizes. Also along the carnival theme will be two clowns roaming and making balloon creations. Caricature artists, face painters and temporary tattoo artist will be on site as well. A magician will roam the crowd performing magic tricks and will perform a magic show at 6 p.m.

No carnival is complete without the ever popular cotton candy, funnel cakes, sno-cones and popcorn - all provided free (while supplies last). Other food booths will offer various selections for purchase and ALC will operate a beer booth. All wishing to purchase beer must provide proof of age and will be issued a wristband. No coolers or other alcoholic beverages are allowed to be brought on site.

Other events throughout the day include a Build-A-Boat Contest where contestants must construct a sailing vessel using only cardboard and duct tape. All materials will be provided to include cutting utensils and may be pick-up in advance.

Teams may consist of eight members who are age 16 or older. Two members will serve as captain and first mate and will sail in the boat along a designated route. Boats may be decorated and prior to racing each team will perform a team cheer and introduce their boat. Several categories of awards will be presented. Call (931) 454-6084 to sign up for this event.

The Fitness Center will host a 4-on-4 volleyball tournament. Sign up in advance at the Fitness Center, (931) 454-6440, or before 1 p.m. the day of the event. Type of play will be determined based on number of teams participating.

Entertainment will be provided throughout the day beginning with a disc jockey from noon to 4 p.m. Then a local band will take the stage and play from 4-8 p.m.

New this year is a car and motorcycle show. Anyone who wishes to show off his ride, from classic to current, can register to compete for 10 show awards, best-in-show and Commander's Choice Trophy. Entry fee is $20 and all registrants will receive an event T-shirt and dash plaque. Register at www.arnold.af.mil/services.asp or call (931) 454-3098 for further information.

Check in will be at 11 a.m. and awards will be presented at 4 p.m.
