Arnold AFB economic impact exceeds $1 billion in fiscal year 2025

The economic impact of Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee was $1.2 billion for the 2025 fiscal year. Local areas around Arnold were impacted through payroll, secondary jobs created through local spending, and other expenditures for supplies, utilities, professional and technical services, and the spin-off impact of those purchases. From Base to Desert: AEDC Branch Chief Joins Son in 240-Mile Ultramarathon Journey

At age 69, Mike Dent, AEDC Technical Management Branch Chief at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn., is very active, running three miles two to three times each week. Cognizant of the important task of a pacer during an ultramarathon such as the Moab 240, Mike trained for a month before the race. Mike Dent, AEDC Technical Management Branch Chief at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn., completed 13 miles of 2025 ultramarathon Moab 240 with is son during the four-day and 21-hour race. Mike joined Tim at mile 114.22, at Shay Mountain, sitting at about 8,400 feet. From there, they faced a climb to the peak at 10,600 feet before descending to Monticello Lake at mile marker 126.42.
